The first step is to call the Conflict Resolution Center at 530-477-6517. The program’s case manager will ask you questions and explain your dispute-resolution options. As appropriate, the case manager will provide advice to explain the rights and responsibilities of the parties, in light of the specific facts of the dispute. If you decide to utilize our dispute resolution services, the case manager will open a case. The case manager will notify the other party or parties involved in the dispute to explain that dispute resolution has been requested, and determine if that other party is willing to participate.
If both parties agree, a mediation date is scheduled at the parties’ convenience, and a professionally trained mediator will conduct the mediation session. Mediations can be scheduled for mornings, afternoons, evenings, and even weekends, if necessary. Mediations are held at local sites in Nevada City. Mediation sessions typically run from two to three hours in length, but will be adjusted to meet the actual needs of the parties.
